Well over 800 klms cycled now & we are ready for a couple of days rest in Munich.
Quite a lot of photos today as a technical problem with the camera & storage card prevented yesterdays post.
Riding conditions were again cool, overcast & pleasant. The ride was quite long, from 8 am to 3.30pm with only short breaks for smoko & lunch, the final 20 klms were through built up areas in & around Munich, with heavy traffic of trams, cars & people. The hotel was a welcome site & after a welcome shower the Italian restaurant across the road was selected.
Today was full on tourist mode, we bought a group all day pass for 4 people for 14.80 Euros, which allowed us unlimited use of buses, trains & trams. The public transport is incredible & very easy to work out. You can get to any place in the city very quickly with very little stress. There are multi layers of underground stations that cover the whole city, it was great fun to use & very fast.
Our first stop was Dachau concentration camp, a vast complex, with a great amount of detail, quite a daunting place. The afternoon saw us at the 1971 Olympic venue, another scene of tragedy with the Israeli massacre. It is still quite modern looking today. We then went to the BMW factory & showrooms & factory. Some further sight seeing & dinner saw us pretty stuffed & we headed home about 6.30
