71 quite easy klms today, business as usual, the routine is well established now. Morning tea & coffee at a bakery & stolen lunch in a pleasant location along the trail. The temperature was in the low twenties & very pleasant for riding, overcast but no rain. We followed the Main canal which joins the Rhine & the Danube, it is around 160 klms in length & was constructed in the 90s'to join East & West Europe. It is now possible for barge traffic & shipping to travel from the North sea to the Black sea. Following the canal makes for very flat cycling.
Nuremburg is another very pretty city and has its share of ice cream shops which we frequented on our afternoon walk.
Dinner was Japanese, the location chosen by Alison & Stewart, very nice..

Heading out from Bamberg along the Main canal.
Mike waits patiently for coffee at the bakery at Munjarayburg, about 2 hours into our ride.

A passing barge heading for the lock.

A creek we crossed.
A badly damaged lock gate, that some barge pilot must have thought was open.
You can clearly see the bow imprint pushed deeply into the gate which has been dumped beside the lock.
