Donauworth...81 klms. Fairly tough day

Weather today was fine & very warm, with some serious hills. Yvonnes' knee is much better, but as she is not a lover of large & steep hills or gravel tracks, she found todays ride quite challenging. Greg was again kind enough to carry her second pannier, while I had her main one. This left Yvonne travelling light today.
We met a chap while riding today, who cycled with us for a few klms. He came from Romania 25 years ago with the handball team & didn't go home. (I think he was supposed too). He loves it here & works in Nordlinger in micro electronics. He says the pay in Germany is excellent & unemployment virtually non existant.
On Sundays he hops on his bike to visit local farms for fresh eggs, vegetables & dairy products. Apparently many people do this. He suggested we detour through Nordlingen to visit the beer festival which was on today. Every town we rode through was locked up & completely dead, but Nordlingen was bustling with people, but the festival proved way too crowded for us, so instead we cycle toured around the walled city. Europe must have been a very violent place during the 1300s as all the cities had defensive walls, yet still many were conquered. No bakeries today as they are all shut on Sundays, so instead we went to Mcafe, which was OK too. Our digs tonight were on top of Mt Everest, so high up you could hardly breath. Everyone ended up pushing their bikes up the final hill.
Leaving our digs heading for Donauworth, over the shoulder.

Yvonne pushes up a steep hill in a forrest.

Oncoming traffic, another cyclist.

Ponds beside the track.

These turbines are huge as you can see, behind very tall trees.

Greg tries out a contemplation maze beside a monestry.

A field of spuds.
Notice no fences we havent seen fences in hundreds of kilometres, the cows all live in the villages & are hand fed as the land is all used for growing food.

A working water wheel, Nordlingen.

The tack nearing Nordlingen.

Leaving Nordlingen via the city gate.

Lunch under a roadside apple tree.

A castle we passed atop a killer hill.

A bushy trail nearing Donauworth.
