3 Days In Frankfurt..... continued

Last day in Frankfurt. The main aim of todays efforts was to scope out the start of tomorrows treck to Aschaffenburg  (if you can pronounce that you must have been born in Germany), test the bikes & to check out some local scenery.
The day started early before 5am by watching Utube videos on how to set up bike deraillers. 6am off to breakfast & steal some fruit, buns, cheese & salami, from the breakfast room for a picnic lunch on our ride. After breakfast another 1.5 hours spent trying to fix the derailler.
We set off on the bike trails along the banks of the Main river, with Greg & Mike making snap navigational decisions at the front, with the aid of input from Wendy & her newly rebuilt electronic navigator, the rest of us following & just enjoying the ride. It was lovely along the banks of the river, we then headed through some busy city areas & were making our way toward the trails through the forrest, with flawless navigation, although I'm sure I did see the same scenery twice at one stage ???????????
The forrest trails were magnificent, with rich luxuriant spring & early summer growth. I hope we see a lot more of this during our travels.
Lunch time found us once again in front of a church on the banks of the Main.
As soon as we started eating, the church bells started to clang very loudly & went on & on. This was probably divine retribution on this group of lunch thieves.
During our stay here Angela has made it very plain that the German economy is being stretched to its limit by a bunch of very lazy Spaniards, Greeks & Itallians who think that Germany should support the whole of the EU.
So to help out as best we can, just before getting home we stopped at the bakery & Yvonne bought a Mohnkuchen & I purchased a Scneckenkucken for afternoon tea.( we would hate to see the bakers of Germany fall on hard times & we are willing to pull our weight to help out)
The ride ended up being 45 klms & saw us at home at around 1 pm. After several minor adjustments during the ride the bike is running OK but could be better.
Every night a different couple decides which resteraunt we should eat at & tonight is our turn. With thoughts of poor destitute German bakers tugging at our heart strings I have decided we will be going to the bakery, as no personal sacrifice is too great for our German friends.
Heading out along the Main

A quick over the shoulder shot, still along the river bank.

Crossing a car road heading through town.

On one of the many magnificent forrest tracks.

I have seen a lot of the back end of Yvonne.

Greg, Yvonne & Kate during a comfort stop.

Lunch along the river Main

A very noisy church punishing us for our evil ways.

  1. It's a good thing you are doing lots of pedalling to work off those pastries! I enjoy reading the blog - keep up the good work. Roz
