A fairly long day in the saddle today, 92 klms from Wurzburg to Schweinfurt, but easy going, with a tail wind for the first 30 klms but a character building headwind later in the ride. The heat wave is over with temperatures in the high teens, with some rain showers cooling us further. Departure at 8am, arrival just after 3 pm in the rain.
Mid morning saw us having morning tea at a bakery & purchasing great fresh salami & salad rolls for later lunch on the trail.
( Have I mentioned that the bakeries here are VERY good)
Lunch was taken at a lovely riverside park. We took alittle detour after lunch and looked at a cathedral in GrossAssburg,
(this is probably not the towns name but it sounds good) to watch the Benedictine monks at one of their 5 daily prayers. They all wear black dresses & there are lots of them.
If you require strictly accurate names, statisics & descriptions, you should not be reading this blog, you would be better off reading Gregs' blog, for this same trip, which I'm sure is far better researched.
Coming into Schweinfurt we rode past the enormous SKF bearing factory which stretched for several city blocks.
We had another excellent ice cream when we arrived, which was made on the premises. The ice cream here is as good as the bakeries. I think this may becoming a food safari.
Wendy & Greg chose tonights grub & went for Indian. It was great & they had another black beer I had not yet tried. All was good.
I bought a new inner tube in a bike shop down the road, to replace the one we used on Yvonnes' bike the other morning when we had 2 flats, one on Mikes' bike & one on Yvonnes'. Hopefully we won't get too many more.
It was a very old tube & had been to many places around Australia, it was sad to see it go. I thought I should write a song about it & call it.

Along the river on a wet road.
Over the shoulder shot of NANNA.
Endless fields of Barley.
Occasionally some geographical confusion exists.
A huge autobahn looms high overhead, thankfully we have nothing to do with it.
Another over the shoulder shot.
Fields of sugar beet. There are no fences anywhere.
We rode past this very cool museum, but it was closed.
A nice room after a long ride.
Dinner was Indian.
Keep up the good work. More pedalling, less pastries!!! Roz
