Another 77 klms of beautiful country has rolled by, under blue skies.
You may have noticed that yesterday we did not even mention a bakery, thats because we had NO pastries at all.
Today we remedied that by attending 2 bakeries before lunch.
Once again doing our bit for the German economy.
It was another day spent under glorious blue skies, following the river valley along, past castles, vineyards, barley fields, corn fields & stone fruit orchards.
It was quite a hot today , in the mid thirties, this should not happen until later in the summer, but Yvonne & I have the hot weather curse that follows us around.
We walked around Miltenburg and enjoyed the thousand year old buildings & had an emergency ice cream, to prevent any chance of heat stroke. The ice cream here falls into the same category as the beer & bakeries.
Not far from Wertheim I was run off the bike road by a crazy bitch on a bike coming the opposite way. I then decided to perform a classic face plant dismount from the bike. ( not pleasant but not much damage done ).
Dinner tonight was traditional Frankonian (German). Venue chosen by Mike & Kate. Frankonians still do not consider themselves German as they were only recently unified (300 years ago). Most of us had the traditional pork sausage on a bed of sauerkraut & fried potatoes & onions.(sounds boring, tastes grerat) with 2 tall glasses of black beer.
Vineyards along the valley walls.
Still following the river...
View from our balcony, of the bike park at last nights' digs .
Overlooking the river from King Ludwigs palace garden.
Walking back through the palace garden.
A long ship just like the one we sailed on 2 years ago on the same river.
Walking back through the palace gardens.
Cycling along the river bank. Note the train line on our right, has no fence.
There are no fences blocking train lines, with threatening notices on them .
Here you use common sense & don't walk there when there is a train & if you should walk in front of a train & get squashed then that person is deleted from the gene pool & won't breed any more idiots & so there is no one standing on train lines. What a great system.
Yvonnes first ice cream of the day in Miltenberg.
The town square in Miltenburg.
Yvonne, Greg & Wendy share another ice cream in Wertheim.
Just crusin............
Roz & Byron may remember this spot. It is where the boat was tied up at Miltenburg & nearly left without them.
brings back memories of our river cruise with you guys. Sounds like you are really enjoying your ride. I loved your comment about the train tracks and common sense. Roz
